Birzai Cemetery and Murder Sites

On the way to the cemetery 




we walked in the back of some local houses that were along the lake. If I didn’t know better one would easily have passed for uncle Normie’s house and yard.

Cemetary was spread over a large fenced in area:











At the cemetery the Nazis murdered 60 people:



In the woods the Nazis murdered another 2500 people when they cleared the Ghetto.



A new memorial site is planned for later this year. I posted on the plans earlier:

On the bright side we saw Storks making nests on top of electric poles.



On the way out of town, we visited an observational tower where you can see how the sinkholes have turned into mini lakes and ponds. (Ignore my rubber knees)
